Thanks for this great research! With the Newark air hub called off a few years ago, how you expect NYC supply works? Is it brought through the Port of Newark, trucked to TEB9 (the closest IXD), and brought back to JFK8 and other FCs? Or is it more likely that inbound goods arrive to FCs from Allentown and JFK airports?
There are some imported goods that come in through the Ports of NY/NJ, but 85%+ of Amazon imports are coming in from the west coast, which means that most imported goods are coming from the west, not the east. But there are a variety of IXDs around the area that are receiving both imported and domestic goods and then spreading them around to FCs. I've got an article coming out soon-ish with Urban Omnibus where I look at the most common outbound arcs in Amazon's system. JFK8 is at the top of the list in my very limited data as the most common originating FC for NYC.
