A Brief Primer on Amazon's Distribution Network in Canada
A short addendum to the longer primer on its US distribution network
This one’s going to be short and sweet, as the post is primarily a means of sharing this map:
The facility differentiation in Canada really doesn’t differ from that of the United States, which I go over in this recently updated primer. Just a few extra notes here:
Canada does not appear to have Sub-Same Day Fulfillment Centers, though it claims to offer same day service in certain markets. It’s possible that some of the facilities listed here function as Sub-Same Day facilities.
I went ahead and listed the recently shuttered facilities in Quebec. As Jonathan Rosenblum and I cover here, Amazon shut down its whole operation in the province in response to the unionization of a single facility, evidence of the great lengths it will go to to keep unions out.
Unlike in the US, I highly doubt there’s a ton of inter-regional fulfillment, just given Canada’s geography: it’s more likely that anything not in Vancouver fulfillment centers is coming from Arlington, WA rather than Brampton, though I don’t know the specifics here. Something to investigate: cross-border fulfillment!
